Business Writing

Vital to being understood, clear and concise business writing is an essential skill for all employees. Participants will learn writing with a purpose, understanding the audience, clear and concise messages, proper mechanics and matching communication mode and message. They will review the phases of good writing: researching/planning, organizing/drafting, and revising/collaborating and useful editing tips to create emails and other documents that get to the point.

Communication Fundamentals

Communication allows organizations to function effectively and efficiently. This course introduces the critical skills of workplace communication emphasizing steps and processes that can eliminate barriers and improve understanding. Participants identify their communication style and practice effective communication techniques including active listening and creating clear and concise verbal messages.

Communication Skills for Leaders

Managers who can effectively communicate leverage their ability to connect and enhance their productivity and the productivity of their teams. Participants will learn the five key habits of effective communicators including: focus on the listener, remove barriers to understanding, create messages that are clear, concise and compelling, balance intent and impact and match mode and message. Learners then practice using them in context.

Presentation Skills

Sharing knowledge, thoughts and ideas verbally is essential in today’s fast-paced communication driven environment. Participants will learn techniques for planning, organizing and delivering results-oriented messages, which they can use in situations ranging from informal discussions to formal presentations.

Respectful Communication for Individual Contributors

One simple way to communicate more effectively is to treat the person you are addressing respectfully. Participants are exposed to the concept of respectful communication and identify the significance for them as an individual contributor. They learn the various conflict resolution styles, identify their style, and practice resolving conflict using workplace scenarios.

Respectful Communication for Managers and Supervisors

Failure to communicate respectfully leads to conflict, which will harm an organization. Managers and Supervisors are responsible for both modeling respectful communication and interceding to ensure respectful communication between team members. Participants focus on the management skills necessary to address organizational and personnel problem areas. They learn the various conflict resolution styles, identify their style, assess the dynamic created by the variation in styles, and practice resolving conflict using workplace scenarios.
